Well apparently my friends on the west coast are very inspirational to me. First, I am now a blogger. And second, I have signed up for my first half marathon. On December 5th I will be trying my skills at running 13.1 miles. Seeing as how I have never really been a serious runner I decided to start training now. Last night I ran the longest I ever remember running, 2.25 miles. Thank goodness I have 5 months!
On another note:
When I first moved to Memphis I basically moved into a place I was 100% sure was safe. Granted I am probably paying a little more than I should, but when you move to a somewhat scary city safety is a big thing. Well, I have been here for almost a year now and I pretty much know the ins and outs, the safe and unsafe areas of Memphis. And as much as I do like my apartment, a year of living in it has shown me I would much rather be in a house. So I set out to find a new place to live. First, about 3 months ago I was talking to my friend Dawn who wanted the same things in a new place as I did and so we decided to become roommates. We set out looking. We looked at a lot of town homes and duplexes and spent the better part of a Saturday driving all around the city. Finally, last night, we decided on a place!! Its super cute and so southern! Its a duplex, 2 bed 1 bath. Brand new beautiful hard word floors throughout. All brick on the outside with huge old trees decorating the yard. It has a HUGE back deck and a swing hanging from one of the trees in the back yard. Basically we loved it. Not to mention on the other side are 2 male high school teachers in their mid-twenties. Could be fun! The lady who owns it is also super nice and really liked us because she also went to school here at UT. She is updating the kitchen and doing a bunch of painting before we move in. I am so excited I wish we could move in right now! However, we will have to wait until the 3rd week of July. Only one of the hottest couple weeks in Memphis. Ugh. I will try to get some pics up soon.
